Marriage Ministry as a Wedding Officiant
God has called me to a marriage ministry. As a licensed Christian wedding officiant, I can share the joy of marriage in Christ with others. I learned so much in the wedding officiant classes at the Christian Leaders Institute (Learn more about online Bible classes, Click Here).
My journey started as a young boy of 9 years old when my father and mother divorced. I wasn’t the child that assumed that the divorce was my fault. I didn’t understand why that affected my time with my father. After the divorce, my sister and I spent every other weekend with my father. That soon turned to whenever he was available. My dad was an alcoholic and not a present father. He allowed his shame in his parental failures to dictate his life and fuel his absence. I remember a time when he was expected to pick me up from school. After the bell rang, I eagerly awaited my father’s arrival. However, it became apparent, as I stood in the rain, that he wasn’t coming. Finally, my mother came to pick me up. This molded my distrust in my father.
Struggles and Finding Jesus
Fast forward, I am now a troubled teen. I felt pressured to be joyful while attempting to fill the holes left by an absent father. I filled them with drugs, sex, alcohol, and meaningless relationships. Always seeking affirmation and approval from my peers and trying to numb my pain. I found God in a program called Pathways, where I also found the love of my life.
My struggle was that I had resentment in distrust for my earthly father. It was difficult for me to trust and receive love from my Heavenly Father. I had fears and expectations that He, too, would let me down. Through Pathway’s program, I was able to leap over the boundaries and roadblocks keeping me from letting Jesus into my heart. I ultimately accepted him as my Lord and Savior, and everything changed!
Changed and Called to Marriage Ministry
From that point forward, Jesus washed an overwhelming sense of peace over me. I also felt grace for my father. Jesus changed my desire to numb my pain and feelings. He changed my desire for meaningless relationships to give me love and affirmation. Jesus was all I needed, and the rest came together.
I met my wife on this journey as well. She was also seeking the same healing as I was. Together, we achieved that awakening and healing. Creating a beautiful relationship of love and grace with one another, we married after two years together. We have been married for 5 years. We have a beautiful daughter who is the absolute light of our lives.
I want to help others to the understanding we have received by surrendering to our heavenly father and letting Jesus into our hearts. Also, having Jesus in the center of our parenting and our marriage is key to our marital success. So getting licensed as a Christian Wedding Officiant with the Christian Leaders Alliance will allow me that opportunity. The licensed Christian Wedding Officiant classes at the Christian Leaders Institute give me a great foundation for a marriage ministry.
