Ordained Deacon Minister
My name is Getro Richemond, and I am serving as an ordained Deacon Minister. I live in Belle Glade, Florida. First and foremost, I want to thank God for opening up these doors of opportunities at Christian Leaders Institute. I want to thank President Reyenga and Professor Steve Elzinga, who taught this course in a way that I could understand.
Serving as an Ordained Deacon Minister
On May 18, 2007, I was ordained as a deacon at First Haitian Baptist Church. Ever since my ordination, I have not taken the ministry lightly. I served in different areas of the church; for example, I served as the Van Driver of the church and as a leader of the Youth. Currently, I am the vice president of the Men’s Ministry and serving as a Sunday school teacher for young adults.
Mathew 20:26 says, “whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.” I always believe in following Christ that I must be willing to serve others. Jesus never asks anyone to do something He did not do. Mathew 20:28, “Jesus came to serve, not to be served.” I understand that as a leader, I am not here to be served but to serve others. I am to serve others with love, respect, and dignity.
Ordained Deacon Minister Course at CLI and Ordination
President Reyenga said something I found very deep. He said, “ A servant is a carrier of God’s blessings to others.” A servant who understands that is an intelligent person because he or she will never be empty-handed. God always provides the right tools to do what His servants are to do. I am happy to be that person who will carry the blessings to His people. When I used to drive the church van, I always had a story to tell the people. I understood that I was the first church official they saw on Sunday morning, so I helped prepare their hearts for service. It was a great experience, and I found joy in it.
Once and for all, I am happy for this revival I found through this Deacon Minister Ordination course. I will apply everything I’ve learned from this course. I will use this course as a training tool to encourage others to serve like Christ.
