Ordained Home Minister
Ordained Home Minister
I live in Canada, and God is calling me to be an ordained home minister.
Growing up in a small town in Canada, my childhood was idyllic. My days consisted of time spent playing outside, close friends, and lots of freedom. My church was within sight of the house I grew up in. It’s also where I met a lot of the heroes of my faith. It is where I received baptism and met and married my husband.
My interest in ministry started at a young age. My home church was very involved in being “Salt & Light.” From a young age, the leaders sent us out to learn from people who had been in the church longer. However, as I grew, life got in the way of my faith.
My Faith Was Tested, and God Brought Life and Healing
While taking my degree at University, the messages that told me if I believed in God, I was uneducated inundated me. And the professors forced their views onto their students. I wasn’t as anchored in my faith as I had previously thought.
Later in life, I realized that the faith I grew up with and held onto through my 20s wasn’t as “real” as I needed. My faith training was legalistic. And I lacked a deep connection to the God of grace. This lack caused me to dive into studying my faith and His Word in a more profound way. Then, I connected with a beautiful Abba, Father, that I didn’t even know existed.
Through the years of raising small children, God slowly became more and more of a guiding force within me. He healed a lot of the issues I didn’t even know I was struggling with. He showed me a faith that has been new and beautiful to me. I’ve been “searching for my calling” for a long time. Feeling the call to ministry but stuck in the old way of thinking that I grew up with that told me, “a woman has no place in the leadership of the church.”
Feeling Called and Finding the Christian Leaders Institute
Finding the Christian Leaders Institute, taking the Getting Started Courses, and beginning in my training has been a balm to my soul. I am homeschooling my two children at the moment. So, I am home every day with them (one with special needs). Thus, being able to study with CLI at home on my schedule is going to be invaluable. Currently, I am to be at home with my children, and for a long time, I believed that excluded me from furthering my education.
Ordination with Christian Leaders Alliance
The Deacon Ordination offered by the Christian Leaders Institute and the Christian Leaders Alliance has been invaluable. The teaching has been informative and engaging. It has truly helped me grow leaps and bounds in my faith as well as prepared me for ministry. I feel empowered to teach and to minister to others now as an ordained home minister. I also look for opportunities to reach out to people. However, I am not yet sure where this training will take me, but I’m open to exploring whatever God has in store for me.
Women’s Ministry Call?
I hope to become trained in Women’s Ministry eventually. Through that ministry, I want to have a place where women searching for God or peace, connection, or sisterhood can come together. There they find love, acceptance, and welcome just as they are. I still do not know if God will call me into part-time or full-time ministry, or what His plans exactly are.
The more I learn and grow, the more I realize that God’s plan and call brought me to CLI. I am on a clear path. Furthermore, I know that this training has been an integral part of my call. I am excited and encouraged by all I’ve learned at CLI. I will wait on the Lord, listen, and know that He is leading me to where I need to be. Thank you!
