Marriage Ministry Calling
My name is Rich Jones. The marriage ministry training and licensed wedding officiant course at the Christian Leaders Institute are further equipping us for our marriage ministry calling from God.
Married for over 35 years, I love being married to Terri. God blessed me with Terri as my partner to journey through life with. I love her. Having each other share and celebrate life’s highs makes them that much sweeter. Having each other to encourage and help one another through the lows is essential. Sharing the unique strengths and gifts God has given us makes us stronger as a couple than we are individually. She completes me. Having the opportunity to love another and receive love from another is precious.
Furthermore, I take Jesus’ command in Ephesians 5 to love Terri as Jesus loved the church seriously. I put a lot of effort into ensuring she knows I love her, not just through my words but through my actions. We have a lot of fun doing that. Ask her about the three-year scavenger hunt I took her on to celebrate our 25th anniversary. It culminated in the renewal of our vows in the church where our wedding occurred.
Marriage Ministry Calling
Our passion for marriage and that marriage is for a lifetime came from our parents. My parents’ marriage was for 66 years until their death, and Terri’s parents’ marriage is over 71 years and still going strong. Through their model, our experience, and what the Bible teaches us, we believe a strong marriage is the foundation of a strong family. It enables kids to thrive, grow, feel loved, and know Jesus. In turn, that lays a foundation for strong, healthy communities.
That belief leads us to serve in marriage ministries where we can help build and nurture marriage relationships built on Christ. With a marriage ministry calling, we have mentored young married couples as they navigate life for many years. We especially enjoy taking couples who are planning to marry through pre-marital counseling classes. Officiating marriages is an extension of that calling for us. There are about two million marriages in the USA annually, and we feel called to do our part to help make those marriages last a lifetime.
