In Florida, individuals seeking to officiate weddings must adhere to specific legal requirements as outlined in the Florida Statutes:

Ordination: You must be a regularly ordained minister of the gospel, an elder in communion with a church, or other ordained clergy authorized to solemnize marriages.

No Registration Required: Florida does not require officiants to register with any government office before performing marriage ceremonies.

Marriage License Handling: After the ceremony, the officiant must ensure the marriage license is correctly completed and returned to the county clerk’s office where it was issued.

Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA) meets these requirements by offering ordination through a globally recognized ministry organization. Upon completing the Wedding Officiant program, you will receive the credentials necessary to legally officiate weddings in Florida.

Why Choose Christian Leaders Alliance?

While instant ordination websites offer quick credentials, they often lack depth and credibility. Christian Leaders Alliance provides a superior alternative by offering:

  • Biblical Depth: Our program is rooted in Scripture, providing you with a strong theological foundation.
  • Practical Training: CLA provides comprehensive courses that prepare you for all aspects of officiating weddings, beyond just the ceremony.
  • Community Endorsement: Ordination through CLA requires a local endorsement, ensuring accountability and support.
  • Credibility: Christian Leaders Alliance is a recognized religious society with global impact, giving your ordination legitimacy in Florida and beyond.

A Pathway to Ministry

For many, officiating a wedding sparks a deeper interest in ministry. At CLA, ordination as a wedding officiant often becomes the first step toward volunteer, part-time, or full-time ministry.

Christian Leaders Institute (CLI), the educational branch of CLA, offers over 200 free ministry training courses. These courses lead to awards, certificates, diplomas, and degrees, equipping you for roles in weddings, pastoral care, preaching, church planting, and more.

Florida Wedding Officiant Testimony

My name is William Toti, and I live in Brevard County, Florida, in the United States. I am a retired U.S. Navy captain. After graduating from the United StatesGet Ordained in Florida Naval Academy in 1979, I spent my career in the Navy, eventually serving as captain of a nuclear submarine and as commodore of a submarine squadron.

One of the most formative events of my life was being present at the Pentagon during the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. The short version of the story is that I lived while too many of my friends did not. That event profoundly shaped my worldview.

After retiring from the Navy in 2006, I spent 15 years as a business executive, hiring as many military veterans into civilian jobs as I could. During this time, I realized that many veterans were struggling to transition to civilian life. To address this, in 2022, I wrote a book aimed at helping veterans enhance the skills needed for post-military success. However, I quickly learned that many of the challenges veterans face have less to do with secular skills and more to do with moral and spiritual instability.

I came to Christ later in life. This experience led me to shift my focus from solely addressing secular job skills to helping military members and veterans see Jesus as the anchor of stability they need in their lives. I realized that Jesus is the ultimate solution to the struggles many veterans face. As a result, I pursued chaplain and divinity training at Christian Leaders Institute and now serve full-time ministering to veterans and international seafarers working on the cruise ships based in Port Canaveral, Florida. From officiating weddings to addressing pastoral needs, I am grateful for the training and ordination opportunities offered by the Christian Leaders Alliance.

Ordination will complete my portfolio of tools for ministering to veterans and seafarers in my community. The ability to baptize, counsel, marry, and provide other pastoral services will allow me to offer comprehensive ministry to those coming to Christ or those struggling in their relationship with Him.

The free ministry training has been invaluable, as it allowed me to explore my calling without committing substantial financial resources upfront. It provided the opportunity to gain the training necessary to discern whether I am truly called to full-time volunteer ministry—a path that, in itself, requires significant personal and financial commitment—without incurring debt to do so.

I ask for your prayers for my ministry. Please pray that God connects me with veterans and seafarers who are struggling and could benefit from pastoral care. By the grace of God and the power of the Holy Spirit, I have already had the privilege of helping some individuals find Christ and look forward to continuing this work for many years to come
