God Planned Ordination
My name is Katrina Reed and I am on a God planned ordination journey. I was born in Oak Ridge, TN, the 3rd and last child of a loving family committed to the Lord through serving at church, and in the community in the early ’60s. My parents baptized me in the Episcopal Church at 3 months old. At the age of 3, I vividly recall accepting the love of Jesus. When I was 13, a revival came through our church and all of our family went to the river and got water baptized, I was “born again” and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior!
In my teen years, I doubted my faith at times and wondered, “Where are you, God?” I studied other churches and religions and asked many questions. I prayed continually and I always found God was with me in my walk in life.
My upbringing was not without past family trauma issues that played out with mental illness and family dysfunctions. Peers introduced me to drugs and alcohol at the age of 14 and I lived a sinful life for many years. Then, God led me back to His presence and showed me how much He loved me.
God has answered many of my prayers throughout my life and blessed me with my loving husband of 25 years. We currently live in Denver, CO and part-time in Phoenix, AZ. I have now vowed to spend the rest of my life to seek first the Kingdom of God and to walk in my faith, to live as I am “called”.
I am preparing for the God planned ordination that God calls me to by getting an education at Christian Leaders Institute (CLI). This online college offers a free education to anyone who wants it. I was happy to learn for free without any intention of living a “ministry” until I found the Ordained Deacon course. It has taught me that “my life” is a ministry, and has challenged me to write my “God planned ordination ministry”.
Here it is:
As a follower of Jesus in the position of an Ordained Deacon, I will step out in faith as the Spirit of God leads me;
1) To bring the presence of God into any situation with the Holy Spirit as my guide and helper.
2) Walking with confidence through any door God opens for me.
3) In confidence and competency, with the credibility of having the education to become an Ordained Deacon.
4) To offer the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper for the remission of sins to those who are shut-ins, or in hospitals and nursing homes, and whomsoever else the Lord brings to me.
5) To continue my education with CLI to achieve a Chaplaincy Certificate and a Bachelors in Divinity.
6) In the opportunity, I have accepted to be a volunteer Chaplain at a local hospital.
Prayer for my walk in faith, that I will hear the voice of God and live in the presence of the Holy Spirit. That I will daily wear the armor of God as I have the faith to stand firm in the victories already won. And that I approach humanity and all the world in humility and love as the Father directs me, to fulfill the purpose for which I was created.
