Minister Ordination Calling

Minister Ordination Calling

My name is Candace McRae, and I have a minister ordination calling on my life. I live in Atlanta, Georgia. Kermit McRae is my husband and together we have 7 children, 3 grandchildren (one in Heaven with Jesus) and three on the way in 2019 – BLESS THE LORD! I worked in the legal field for over 25 years and as a Realtor for 10 of those 25 years. I currently own a real estate business. My husband and I serve in many aspects of ministry in the church.

Early Life and Conversion

I am the first born of five children; I was born in 1965. My parents took us to church all the time. Then, after my parents’ divorce when I was nine, I went to two churches. Around the age of eight, I was baptized. However, I just followed all the other kids forward. And, looking back, I believe God was calling me to ministry since the age of nine.

Although I had regular attendance at church, my life was a complete mess. I didn’t know Jesus. Worldliness choked out the Word of God from entering my heart. I knew scriptures and could sing, but it was not in my heart. Due to so much hurt, rejection, disappointment, and darkness, my heart, ears, and mind were closed to the ways of God. This closedness was unknown to me because the subtle enemy can have you thinking you are okay when you are spiraling into hell. At the age of 21, I remember one saying from the church: “Sin will take you farther than you intend to go, keep you longer than you intended to stay, and cost you more than you intended to pay!” Oh, how true! This struck me because I was already out there.

Calling to Ministry

At the age of 9, someone sponsored me to a Christian youth camp: Ambassadors for Christ. I recall feeling that that’s what I am to be: an Ambassador for Christ. From the age of 9 through 27, even in my worldly living, I often would sense the Holy Spirit. At the age of 28, I gave my heart to Christ after a nudging to pick up my Bible and start reading it. While sitting in a church service one Sunday, Isaiah 6 was read. As soon as I heard the verses: “Who will go for us, who shall we send…Here am I, send me.” Hot tears suddenly were flowing down my face and I felt God. That was my calling to the ministry. So, I began studying and growing in the Word and in my relationship with God. Through the years while seeking God and His purpose, many times he placed urgency in my heart to ministry. I have since served by teaching, speaking, singing, writing, and counseling as a layperson.

During and after my pursuit of formal Christian education, I fully seek to serve God and others through the paths He has already ordained for me. In spite of it all, I know that He DOES want me and has work for me to do!

Minister Ordination Calling Journey

“It is Christ has chosen me, it is Christ has chosen me, I was so vile I loved Him not, but HE has chosen me!” – Charles Price Jones
This is a hymnal chorus that rings loudly in my spirit for the past several years. I knew for a very long time that God called me into ministry and ordination. Fear, discrimination, doubt, and rejection prevented me from EVER telling anyone. But, over time, God placed people in my path who began telling ME, and I knew it was confirmation from Him. In pursuit of obeying my minister ordination calling, I searched many years for a Bible college/seminary. I looked for one that was online, not so expensive, and, dare I even dream, FREE?!

Enrolling at Christian Leaders Institute and Christian Leaders College has brought inner joy, satisfaction, and peace. I am obeying God’s instruction to me. My studies and preparation enable me to show myself approved. I am a workman (woman) not ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. Thus, whatever door God opens, whatever paths He places me on, I will be ready.

Since beginning my courses, what has been most surprising to me and has brought me to tears is the support and endorsements I have received. My mother, siblings, husband, and children said to me “GO…Go with God…DO IT!” My endorsers submitted recommendation letters that blew me away. Other family and friends stated they have seen this in me for years and are proud of me for pursuing ministry and ordination. I am humbled and amazed. We seek to live a life pleasing to the Lord and pray that our lives reflect Christ in every way, yet sometimes we just never know what others think of us.

Finally,
“Pray for [me], that whenever I open my mouth, divine utterance may be given, so that I will boldly make known the mystery of the gospel.” (Eph. 6:19)
“Pray for [me], that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor…” (2 Thess. 3:1)
“Pray for [me]; [I] am convinced that [I] have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way.” (Heb. 13:18)
