Ordained Minister Calling
I am taking classes here at Christian Leaders Institute because I have an ordained minister calling on my life. I was born and raised in suburban America in a Catholic household. I attended church regularly on Sundays with my family and went through the traditional Sunday school program. I received my sacraments and moved along in ceremonious fashion without ever really feeling like I had a foundation in Christ nor a relationship with Him. I had a very idealistic and naive perspective on the church and the clergy. Around the age of 16, I took an office job with the church and was exposed to the staff members on a more personal level. I was astonished to learn about the brokenness of the people whom I had held in such high regard – the priests and nuns who were representing the highest ideal of holiness with God. The experience turned me away from the church and between the ages of 16 and 19 I did not attend church, did not practice any religion, and was not spending time with Christ in any way, shape, or form.
When I was 19, I started working for a very successful gentleman who shared with me his faith and his testimony. We spent countless hours talking about what it meant to have a personal relationship with Christ and how life could look. As he continued to mentor me, I finally made the decision to give my life to Christ. My friend walked alongside me for many years, helping to cultivate my faith and lead me away from my past sins and sinfulness and into a new life as a Christian.
For the past decade, I have been plugged in at my church and volunteering with several ministry groups – including children’s ministry. I’ve found a calling to more deeply explore and pursue this path. After much research and counsel with my pastors, I’ve come to Christian Leaders Institute to help strengthen and prepare myself for a future in ministry. Without this scholarship, I would not otherwise be able to pursue this path to my ordained minister calling, as it would be financially unfeasible. With the support of my family, my friends, and the pastors at my church, I am excited to be growing through CLI and am confident I have a strong support network to continue towards a leadership role in ministry. Thank you to CLI for offering these services and for partnering with people like me on this journey. Please pray that God would light the path forward and bless it with His wisdom and guide it with His hand.
