Become Ordained in Utah: Your Guide to Legally, Spiritually, and Academically Preparing for Wedding Officiant Ministry

Becoming ordained in Utah to officiate weddings offers a meaningful way to serve your community while celebrating one of life’s most joyful milestones. Utah law outlines specific requirements for wedding officiants, and the Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA) provides study-based credentials to help you meet these standards and excel in this sacred role.

Understanding Utah’s Wedding Officiant Laws

In Utah, the authority to solemnize marriages is defined by state law and includes the following individuals:

  • Religious Officials: Ministers, priests, and clergy members who are ordained by recognized religious organizations.
  • Judicial Officials: Judges and other authorized government officials.

Religious officiants must be ordained by a credible organization. While Utah does not require officiants to register with the state, maintaining proper documentation of ordination is crucial to comply with legal requirements and provide proof when necessary.

After officiating a wedding, the officiant is responsible for completing the marriage license and ensuring it is returned to the appropriate county clerk for official recording.

Ordination Testimony in Utah

My Journey: A Life Dedicated to Ministry in the Beauty of Utah

I live in the beautiful state of Utah, on 40 acres nestled at the base of the mountains. It’s a place where God’s creation constantly reminds me of His majesty and grace. My journey to ministry has been oneBecome Ordained in Utah of faith, growth, and a deep calling that has guided me for many years. I am ordained with the Christian Leaders Alliance.

Early Years: Building a Foundation in Faith

From a young age, I felt the stirrings of faith. Growing up, I attended church every week, surrounded by a loving community of believers. Sunday after Sunday, I soaked in the teachings of Christ, the beauty of worship, and the power of prayer and fellowship. Those early experiences gave me a strong foundation in the Word of God and instilled in me a deep sense of belonging to the body of Christ.

Diverse Roles in Church Ministry

As I grew older, my faith deepened, and I felt compelled to serve in various ways. My ministry journey began as a youth ministry leader, where I connected with young people facing the challenges of adolescence. Walking alongside them, mentoring, and sharing God’s love became a privilege and joy.

Recognizing my love for working with children, I also stepped into the role of children’s ministry leader. I created programs that taught biblical truths in engaging and joyful ways, helping young hearts encounter God’s love in a nurturing environment. Seeing children grow in their faith and excitement for Jesus was one of the most rewarding aspects of my ministry.

My passion for worship led me to serve as a music leader, guiding the congregation in heartfelt praise. It was an honor to help others encounter God’s presence through music and create a space for spiritual connection and renewal.

A Defining Call to Preach

My life took a profound turn during a family vacation to the Smoky Mountains. We stumbled upon an old, abandoned white church, its quiet presence nestled in the hills. As I stood before it, a powerful sense of calling washed over me—a call to preach the gospel. In that moment, the whisper of God in my heart became undeniable.

That encounter solidified my commitment to ministry. I embraced theological training, immersing myself in the study of God’s Word, and spent four years in seminary. Those years were transformative, deepening my understanding of Scripture and sharpening my ability to communicate God’s truth.

Embracing God’s Call

Today, I continue to live out my calling with passion and dedication. Whether teaching at women’s ministry events, leading worship, or preaching, my heart’s desire is to glorify Christ in all I do. Ministry is more than a role for me—it’s a response to God’s grace and an expression of my love for Him.

I am humbled by the opportunities God has given me to impact lives, share His Word, and help others grow in their faith. My journey is a testament to His faithfulness and the transformative power of saying “yes” to His call.

Every day, as I look out at the mountains surrounding my home, I am reminded of the greatness of God and the privilege it is to serve Him. My life’s purpose is clear: to spread the gospel, nurture the spiritual growth of others, and bring glory to Christ, my Savior.
