Ordination in Vermont
I am a single mother of four beautiful girls, and our family has an extra special addition—my nephew, whom I took in after his mom passed away five years ago. We live in a cozy corner of Vermont. I have a background in the medical field, but after having my third child at age 31, I decided to become a stay-at-home mom. I knew it wouldn’t be easy—and, oh Lord, it hasn’t been—but it has been the most wonderful, painful, and joyful journey I’ve ever taken.
Currently, I homeschool my three younger girls, and it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
I don’t have a dramatic story of my calling, but this is mine…
As a child, I was always drawn to helping people through charities, donations, and similar acts of service. As I got older, I felt pulled toward a more spiritual path. I knew I was meant to be a healer of some kind—hence my medical training—but I sensed it was something deeper. I just couldn’t quite figure it out. What I did know was that my life experiences and hardships, especially as a single mom, were my credentials to help others who have faced similar struggles.
Recently, I was sitting in my bedroom, crying and praying to Jesus for guidance with my two youngest children. I was feeling like a failure as a parent and completely lost. In that moment, I heard the words “Ordained Minister.” I immediately went to the computer and got ordained. But then I heard a voice loud and clear say, “Amy Lynne, that is not what I meant.” That voice led me to Christian Leaders Institute (CLI).
I’m still not entirely sure where the Lord is leading me, but I know He has called me to this path for a reason. For now, I am trusting Him to guide me through this training and education.
UPDATE:
The Lord has since led me through many classes, and when I took the Introduction to Chaplaincy course, I knew without a doubt this was the path He intended for me. I heard Him speak loud and clear: “This is where I need you.” As I worked through the classes to become a Licensed Chaplain Minister, I felt an indescribable pull—one that could only come from the Lord. He guided me with such conviction and trust in me, and the experience was beyond words.
I am committed to continuing my education, and my goal is to earn a college degree in Chaplaincy through Christian Leaders College.
I am profoundly thankful for the training I’ve received and look forward to a deeper walk with God as I pursue chaplaincy. This training has equipped me to serve as a Chaplain in the right way, through the leading of the Holy Spirit. The knowledge I’ve gained from CLI is more than I ever expected, and I am more grateful than words can express.
