Wedding Officiant Testimony From Arizona

I am Greg Buchanan, and I have lived in Mesa, Arizona, for over forty years. I have been a Christ follower and happily married for over thirty years. My wife and I have a daughter and a son, both married and thriving in their lives and careers here in Mesa. For over a decade, we attended a church in Tempe, where we were also married. Our children attended a private Christian school at the same church through eighth grade, and my wife worked there for about five years.

Early in our marriage, we joined an adult Sunday school class and a home-group Bible study. We became part of the class leadership, using our gifts of hospitality to serve as friendly ambassadors, coordinators, and meal providers for class members in times of need. During that time, I attended three Promise Keepers events with other men from church as part of my ongoing spiritual journey to grow in Christ and honor God and my family. We firmly believe in “growing kids God’s way,” even as they become adults.

For the past twenty years, we have been attending a church in Mesa, where we’ve participated in small-group Bible studies, adult Sunday school classes, and various volunteer roles. In fulfilling The Great Commission, we have been blessed to support several local, national, and international ministries and pastors.

Over the years, some of our children’s friends have admired my wife and me for our strong, Christ-centered marriage and family values. Many of them view me as a father figure, and some even call me “Dad.” That is a profound blessing and an honor. Today, I am privileged to encourage, mentor, and disciple others by sharing God’s Word and the message of salvation.

Recently, a young couple we know asked me to officiate their wedding. Knowing they could have chosen anyone, anywhere, I was deeply honored by their request.

To prepare for this important role, I earned my Wedding Officiant certification through Christian Leaders Institute. I chose CLI because of its legitimate, study-based program that aligns with a Christian biblical worldview and God’s design for marriage. Using the skills I have gained, I am now able to mentor couples through pre-marriage counseling and assist them in planning their wedding ceremonies in a way that reflects biblical values and honors God’s perfect design for marriage.

Imagine Where Ministry May Take You: Get Ordained in Arizona

Imagine officiating your daughter’s wedding—a moment filled with love, joy, and profound significance. It’s not just about helping her and her spouse begin their journey together; it’s a turning point in your own walk of faith. As you reflect on that experience, you realize it’s not an ending but a new beginning. God is calling you to take the next step, to move beyond officiating weddings, and explore other meaningful roles in ministry.

This could be your story. The journey begins with getting ordained in Arizona, but it doesn’t end there. With Christian Leaders Alliance (CLA) and Christian Leaders Institute (CLI), you can build a ministry that goes far beyond the wedding aisle.

Answering the Call Beyond Weddings

Becoming ordained to officiate a wedding might be your first step into ministry, but it can open doors to countless opportunities to serve. Whether you feel drawn to pastoral care, teaching, counseling, or outreach, CLA provides the training and support you need to confidently pursue these roles.

As Ephesians 4:11-12 (WEB) reminds us:
“He gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, shepherds and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, to the work of serving, to the building up of the body of Christ.”

God’s calling often starts with one act of service, like officiating a wedding, and grows into a broader mission to glorify Him.
